Cystic Fibrosis in Gaza has never been medically & scientifically studied or researched, maybe even in the whole Palestinian territory,for there is no statistic pointing out the percentage of this disease whether in Gaza Strip or the West Bank. But it has been noticed that some cases infected with this disease are being hospitalized & diagnosed as Cystic Fibrosis in Gaza, but when treatment most of the cases deteriorate due to hospitals protocols as such patients require special equipped, cleansed, aired departments with special nursing & a lot of medical & food consulting, aside with medicaltreatment & psychological support for patient’s family, & domestic & social rehabilitation for patients. The lack of medications required to treat those patients has also been noticed in all health institutions in here. & the difference between the cases treated outside & the one treated in here was obvious to tell, which shows the great deficit in our hospitals’ abilities, information, & equipments foe treating Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis patient needs a team of medical & health staff working together for his treatment & rehabilitation so he’d live like the rest of his fellow children.
This team needs to be well trained & qualified to deal with such patients whom disease accompany them for their whole life. We saw that establishing an association that is able to ensure these patients care & provide them with he treatment, consultant, & support that they need is not only a duty but also a humanitarian & national project that needs to be adapted by people responsible for health affairs in Palestine. We learned about a lot of successful experiences from neighbor countries that had such a project & succeeded in making huge progress in their patients’ conditions & allowed them to have a better life with less suffering from the disease & its consequences.
